Trade & Sales Policies
We trade and buy books Monday-Friday when its not raining, with limits and exceptions
REMINDER : Bart’s Takes an annual break from purchasing and trading books with the public every holiday season December 16- January 2nd.
Detailed current trade and purchasing policies:
The current procedure for trading and selling books is as follows:
Bring us up to four (4) packages per week, per account. Boxes or bags must be no larger than you can handle on your own. Grocery bags or bankers boxes are ideal sizes. This is roughly 100 books. Contact us by phone or email for exceptions by appointment.
Books for trade accepted Monday—Friday, 10am—6pm. Books are not accepted on rainy days. Contact us by phone or email for exceptions by appointment.
For same day trade/cash:
Processing trade will take about 10 minutes per package. It may take longer to start the trade process depending upon employee availability.
Please stay in the store as we process your books.
For next-day trade/cash offer (if you can’t wait for us to evaluate your books):
Mark each package with your full name, email, and phone number.
Drop off containers in the store and verify that an employee has received them.
We cannot hold or return your rejected books. Our offers are non-negotiable and final.
For first editions, antiquarian, rare, or otherwise collectible books, we recommend that you schedule an appointment ahead of time via email form at the bottom of this page.
To trade on weekends or to exceed the 4-package limit, please make an appointment with us by email a week or more ahead of time and stipulate your preference for same-day or drop-off. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.
We are available to come to your business or residence to purchase large collections or receive them as a donation. Email us two weeks ahead with your availability and approximate number of books to schedule an appointment.
Donations:
We are happy to accept donations any day during our open hours (10am—6pm). Please make sure your books are in a container.
Drop off donations in the store, or if donation is larger than four containers contact an employee within.
